CPH Fashion Week FW 17 – By Malene Birger
The make-up for the By Malene Birger Fall 17 show was inspired by actress Michelle Pfeiffer’s roll in the classic gangster movie Scarface.
“We’ve been inspired by the 70s and 80s but in a contemporary way as you often see it from By Malene Birger. A feminine, strong and decadent party woman who dares radiate that she has made an effort. But at the same time, she’s the type who doesn’t wear make-up on a daily basis. The eyes are cat eyes with a touch of the 80s. We used a black eye liner (Infallible Gel Crayon Black) to draw all the way around on the wet line. It’s important that the line goes all the way to the corner of the eye to lengthen the eye. Put on several layers of mascara to unite the lashes with the black line inside the eye. On the lid, we dabbed a bit of Lip Balm (Transparent SexyBalm) on the brownish pearly eye shadow and the black kohl. This gives full gloss on the eye lid. Some of the models wore red lipstick. To judge whether to use the red lipstick or not, we first looked at their outfits. But red lips look great on some girls while they make others look mumsy. We used a classic but also very modern red. It has neither orange or bluish undertones (Perfect Red). We used our fingers to dab on the lipstick to avoid even edges. That makes the look younger and more contemporary”, Sine Ginsborg explained while she checked the make-up of the happy models one last time.
Nails: Essie were responsible for the nails, and the red colour Russian Roulette was chosen by Christina Exteen herself. It was finished off with an extra shiny top coat. The glossy red nails looked beautiful together with the blue and red colours of the collection.
New Kohls have arrived from L’Oréal Paris. The black one was used to create the stand-out eyes at the By Malene Birger show. When applied, it feels like silk. It’s particularly good on the wet line because it’s waterproof and thus stays put.
