Josephine Holm Bredsted – PR and Communication

Meet colourful and bubbly Josephine Holm Bredsted (29) who is head of PR and Communication at Baum und Pferdgarten. She shares her top tips for dealing with acne and retaining a love for your skin.

What are you doing at the moment?

I’m coming out of a really busy period at work. We’ve just completed Baum und Pferdgarten’s Spring/Summer 2019 fashion show. Copenhagen Fashion Week is always a climax for all the work I’ve been doing over the past six months.

What are your skincare routines?

I’m very rigorous about my cleansing routine as I can see the difference it makes to my skin. I shower every morning and use Avène Cleanance Cleansing Gel. I feel that it cleanses my skin really thoroughly. Then I use Trine’s Wardrobe Face Serum and a couple of drops of concentrated Vitamin E oil by Urtegaarden. Depending on the weather, I apply various day creams and in the summer I finish off with Avène SPF 50 on my face. It’s not greasy at all and it’s the best I’ve tried. Using a sun screen on your face is super important. My mother always used a high factor sun cream on her face and her skin is really beautiful. So I’ve promised myself to do the same.

Do you use special cleansing products?

I use the same cleansing products morning and night, but some nights I use a cotton cloth to wash my face. I don’t feel that I always manage to clean off all the makeup and contamination by just using my hands.

Who produces the best masks for your skin type?

Putting on a mask and spending time on yourself and your skin is super de-stressing. One of my favourites is Avène’s Soothing Moisture Mask which you don’t need to wash off again. I always use it before bedtime when my skin feels dry. I always have a pile of moisturising sheet masks from Korea lying around. They are fun and sometimes really do a fantastic job. But those Danish beauty brands also really know their stuff. The new DEEP 03 Mask by Karmameju is outstanding because it exfoliates gently and calms the skin with lactic acid. My skin is so smooth afterwards! The Mud Mask by Tromborg is also really good if you’re looking for something that will really deep-cleanse. For more intensive exfoliation, I use the Triple Action Exfoliator by Ling Skincare.

The best treatment in Copenhagen?

Some time ago, my friend Bea Fagerholt put me in touch with Line Friis who runs Dare To Care. Now I have a deep cleanse done by Kornelia every five weeks. She’s the one who’s managed to tackle my acne. She has a holistic approach to skincare and also advises me on nutrition and vitamins. That place is really worth a visit, especially if you’re having problems with your skin.

What makeup products do you use?

Bronzer by Tromborg, Mineral Powder by Youngblood and Boy Brow gel and Cloud Paint for my cheeks by Glossier.

Who does the best brows in Copenhagen?

I have my brows dyed and styled every three weeks by David Møller at Brow Island. He’s a genius at creating wide, but natural-looking brows that suit my face. Recently, I also had a lash lift and dyed my eyelashes. This means that I don’t need to use mascara. This is the coolest life hack ever.

What colour are your nails?

My nails are all the colours of the rainbow. I love having Shellac nails and always have my nails done in multiple colour combinations. Right now, I’m going with lavender and green glitter.

The best hairdresser in Copenhagen?

There’s only one hairdresser in my life – Mike Nielsen from Mugshot. I don’t like the ‘just cut’ look and only have my hair cut twice a year. Mike is able to make my hair look really natural and well-groomed without the ends looking sharp and just out of the salon.

The best budget beauty buys?

Organic coconut oil. I use it for everything! I use it all over my body after showering, as makeup remover, as hair treatment, for dry cuticles, as brow and lash balm and sometimes on my teeth for natural tooth whitening.

Who inspires you at the moment?

Right now, I’m really into Gilda Ambrosio. She’s the owner of Attico and is a walking power house. She radiates the perfect combination of cool, sexy and edgy. She also always looks flawless with her perfect skin and beach hair – but without using too much makeup.

What fragrance do you use?

Always Hermès Elixir des Merveilles Eau de Parfum.

What is your most recent beauty product purchase?

I bought a stack of Korean sheet masks from Mediheal called N. M. F. Aquaring Ampoule Mask on iherb.com. They freshen and completely moisturise your skin.

What do you buy over and over?

I keep on buying serums by Environ Skin Care. They work extremely well on my skin and have very active ingredients. I vary between their Retinol Serum and Sebugel A.

Do you take nutritional supplements?

Yes. I take some nutritional supplements as I’ve seen a positive effect on my skin problems and digestion. I’ve found that what works best is hormone-regulating Vitex pills or maca powder. I also take a multipack by Puori every day. It contains the daily recommended dose of omega-3, magnesium and vitamins B6 and D.

The best type of exercise?

I combine boxing, running and yoga. When I box at Sporting Heath Club with Jon Østergaard, I really get my body going and have lots of fun doing it. I get my blood pumping and get rid of aggression and waste products. It can see this pretty quickly on my skin. Yoga has given me peace of mind, focus and strengthens my body from within. Namaste!
